Pictures, Jan through Feb. 3rd.

I found the window in the kitchen today. It was walled up for over 30 years. There was no insulation, only 1/2" sheetrock. — feeling confused.

Removed the back porch. The concrete was 15 feet wide, and 24 inches thick. I guess concrete was pretty cheap back when.

Removed all of the old brick floor in old downstairs cellar room. This 4x4 post was holding up the kitchen floor.

January 27th, views of the back of the house.

All of the intricate brickwork that had been hidden for years.

View from the street.

This next few are of me removing the dropped ceiling in the kitchen.

Found some interesting wall paper in some of the many layers.

I just took the sawsall and split it down the middle.

Now you can see the original ceiling joists.

It's hard to see, but the crew installed a temporary header in the kitchen on the west wall. This is to hold up the roof when they remove this wall.

The cellar with only the furnace left. Jan 29, 2014

View from the middle room with the back windows and doors removed.

Today I slept in a while. I removed all of the gen.1 wiring. This was single strand, knob and tube stuff. I then helped the construction crew install a temporary beam along the back wall of the middle room. We then removed the window and door trim and frames. There are just 3 big openings in the brick now.

Beginning of the back wall removal.

Feb 1st, 2014. The back wall is removed and a temporary beam is installed to hold up the back of the house.

This morning I started a fire in the woodstove. It was out by the afternoon. Luckily we were in the attic installing the bean when we found smoke and embers. In 11 years we have never had a problem. Today it starts a fire in the insulation in the attic. We dug it out and hosed it down. Since I was a little worried about it, and we had thought about redoing the ceiling, I took it out as a precaution. More mess and more work. 02/01/14

The old single bathroom with the bad plastic ceiling removed.

Nice shot of the bad fake tile wall.
